The Village of Frankfort has found a solution to the potential police cuts. Frankfort Police Chief Ronald Petrie informed the town board tonight that one of his officers is trying to transfer. If the transfer goes through the police department will not fill the position and the chief says it should help balance the budget. Chief Petrie says this is a sensible solution to the problem and the people in the village will continue to have police protection.

The Chief says, "I wouldn't have allowed a position for the residents to be less safe. The issue that I had is that if the reductions were made, there would have been overtime issues. I would've ensured twenty-four hour coverage even if that meant me covering shifts."

Chief Petrie says there is no word on when the transfer will be approved.
