Utica Fire Department Promotion Ceremony

The Utica Fire Department has faced some difficulty days this year with budget cuts, but today was a happy one.
Everyone enjoys recognition for their hard work and this morning, two men were honored. The Utica Fire Department promoted two firefighters during a ceremony at City Hall. Both men say they couldn't be prouder.
"It's all up from here, now I can be in a leadership role, try to do some things to improve some things," says Shawn Loomis, Utica lieutenant.
"It means the world to me. I've been working toward this position since I've joined the Utica Fire Department in 2005 and it's the world to me," says Gerald Foster, Utica fire marshal.
Utica firefighter Gerald Foster was promoted to fire marshal and firefighter Shawn Loomis was promoted to lieutenant.
