The pledge of allegiance is recited every day across the nation, it's something we hear quite often.

But for some residents, the pledge had a particularly special meaning this morning. 56 people became new U.S. citizens during a naturalization ceremony at Mohawk Valley Community College.

One Utica woman became a citizen in September and today, she watched her friends take the oath of allegiance.

"I am very grateful and i feel like we are free.We gain freedom and opportunity and human rights in this country. I'm very proud and i feel like we are very blessed to be here," says Tha Dah Paw, Thailand native.

Oneida County holds 4 naturalization ceremonies per year. And today's ceremony was the last of the 2012.
