With the thanksgiving holiday just three days away, one area organization is already prepping to feed over 1,000 people.

The Rescue Mission of Utica will be putting on its annual free Thanksgiving meal for individuals in need.

Before Thursday, volunteers will have peeled over 300 pounds of potatoes and cooked 100 turkeys.

Executive Director Reverend Bill Dodge says one hot meal can go a long way.

"Often times a person's healing starts with a meal. A person might not realize the real issues they are dealing with until they can sit down a meal and talks with someone who listens and understands. We hope that this meal, people can find healing," said Rev. Dodge.

Rev. Dodge says they plan on having leftovers and will be serving that for dinner.
