One organization is putting on its thanksgiving dinner a few days early. The Salvation Army held its annual holiday luncheon at its soup kitchen on Clinton Place in Utica.

Over 100 people came through for a hot, traditional thanksgiving meal. The organization says more and more people in the community are relying on them.

"We know them by name and sometimes it's good to say hi Linda. Not just hi welcome to the Salvation Army. We know them personally by name. I would say hand to man and heart to God. That is what we try to do and we stand by that," said Dolores Washington, the Office Manager.

The Salvation Army says it tries to provide a safe atmosphere for the people in need.

Aside from the thanksgiving luncheon, it also serves breakfast, lunch and dinner on a daily basis.
