Utica City Hall was filled with holiday cheer this afternoon.

Fourth through sixth graders at Columbus Elementary school's choir put on a musical play called "Ole Man Winter's Icicle Follies."

More than fifty students have been rehearsing since October to learn different holiday songs. The music teacher says some of her students at first didn't even know what a choir was.

"It always amazes me how quickly students learn music. That says something about the gift of music. Music and the arts takes the average child and reaches them to a new level," said music teacher, Mary Ann DeBernardis.

The students plan on performing throughout the City of Utica this week, including caroling around the school's neighborhood.
