One partnership will soon be helping area veterans and farmers.
Vets will soon be able to buy fresh produce by using their benefits at the Oneida County Public Market at Utica's Union Station.
The CNY Veterans Outreach Center says this will allow vets who are receiving assistance through the supplemental nutrition assistance program or SNAP access to local products.
The money will be converted to tokens to be used at the market.
"Those tokens will be treated just like currency by vendors at the markets. They will be able to use those tokens purchase fruits, vegetables baked goods or any foods that are allowable in the snap program," said Beth Irons, the Market Manager.
The Oneida County Public Market says vets and others who receive assistance through SNAP will be able to shop and buy food starting early next year.
