The talks continue about transforming a former school site in Utica.

A $200,000 grant has been awarded to help turn the old Kemble St. School site in the Cornhill Neighborhood into a brand new park.

After hearing about this proposed project the Utica City School Board members had some questions about the steps in testing the site before construction begins.

A representative from the NY Health Department was there to give them more insight on the project.

"I just want them to become more comfortable with the idea that we'll come in, we'll do some sampling, we'll learn some history about the property where there might be contamination, but there might not be any," said Public Health Specialist, Don Miles.

If all goes as planned, officials plan to start testing the site when the weather warms up.
