Police say the investigation into the two bodies found in a Utica home on South Street is being called a murder-suicide.

According to preliminary reports from the medical examiner's office, the UPD says the estranged husband shot and killed his wife and then took his own life.

Officials say a family member found their bodies on Friday night.

"At this point it's the details of exactly why this happened. We may never know. But that is where our investigation is. And as far as the physical scene, we are fairly certain as to why this happened; now the big question is why," said Sgt. Steve Hauck.

Police say the wife came back from Cambodia the day she was killed.

This is the second deadly domestic violence incident Utica Police have investigated in just a couple of months.
