The Utica Common Council voted to override several of Mayor Rob Palmieri's vetoes.
The Mayor said he wanted to make changes to the budget that hindered public safety.
One amendment in particular was putting back the five police cars in the budget.
Utica Police Chief, Mark Williams says that was a safety factor for the residents.
However, Councilman Joe Marino says he wanted to keep the taxes below 2%
The vote was 6-0 for all vetoes.
Three common council members were no present.
