(October 11, 2012) Jason White is an Albion resident who has worked in healthcare for nearly 2 decades, taking care of senior citizens and disabled children.
The democratic candidate says he decided to run for state representative to make sure your voice is heard in Harrisburg.

"Over the past few years I've seen what's been going on in the state and budget cuts that have been harming our students and our most vulnerable citizens and, as a nurse, I see those cuts first hand and the effects they have on people," said Jason White (D) Candidate for PA Rep/5th District.

If elected, White says his priority as your state representative is to restore funding to education.

"Education has many implications in the economy. There are teachers being laid off. We have to train our students to be prepared for future jobs."

White says he believes education funding is a key ingredient when trying to boost our jobs market.

"In order to attracts business, I believe we have to have an educated workforce."

Recent cuts in funding, not just in education, but in other areas as well, concern White.

"The budget cuts are devastating to our children and most vulnerable citizens, and it seems to me there's a plan to de-fund and privatize all public services."

When it comes to working in Harrisburg with democrats and republicans alike, White says it seems as though right now there is an unwillingness to work together.

"You have to be able to make those compromises, not compromising principles, but compromise to make government work for us."

White is running against republican Greg Lucas.
