Western New York Congressional Races Tightening

The clock is ticking in the western New York congressional races and a couple of them are tightening between opponents.

Democratic incumbent Louise Slaughter is up against Republican Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks in the race for the 25th district. Slaughter spent part of her Sunday at a pancake breakfast. Brooks was at a rally in Greece at Stone Ridge Plaza. A recent poll shows Slaughter holding a ten-point lead over Brooks.

The race for the 27th district remains a dead heat heading into election day. A Siena Research Institute poll released Sunday shows Republican challenger Chris Collins with a one-point lead over Congresswoman Kathy Hochul.

In the 24th congressional district, the race is even tighter. Congresswoman Ann Marie Buerkle and challenger Dan Maffei are neck-and-neck at 44 percent each. Green Party candidate Ursula Rozum is at eight percent. Buerkle beat Maffei two years ago in an extremely tight race.
