Lasnicki, Rabbitt qualify for state meet

Allison Lasnicki has accomplished a lot during her career at Canastota High School. One feat the reigning state cross country champion had not accomplished before Monday’s state qualifier for indoor track and field was to make the state meet in the winter.
Mission accomplished times two.
The Raiders senior won the 3000 to earn a trip to Cornell this Saturday for the state finals. Lasnicki decided to run the 1500 mostly for fun just as well and won that event to qualify in two events.
“It’s my best (time) this season,” Lasnicki said after her 10:24.88 was easily better than her nearest competitor in the 3000. “It was too slow in the beginning, but I had a lot at the end.”
Lasnicki has starred for Canastota in cross country and indoor and outdoor track for years. As a freshman she was not expected to challenge indoors and as a sophomore she missed the state meet by one second. Last year she was sidelined with an injury, so there was added pressure Monday at Manley Field House.
