Two Class D schools cancel 2010 football program, upcoming schedule changed!

Updated: August 25, 2010
Section III announced today that two schools, Hamilton and Bishop Grimes have dropped varsity football for the 2010 season.  The late cancellation of the two teams has resulted in some last minute tweaking of the upcoming schedule for many area Class D schools.  A memo sent by Section III Executive Director John Rathbun stated that the Football Committee, with support from Section III, used the following procedures and rationale while developing the new schedule:

1) Replace teams that were plaing Hamilton and Grimes so they match up with other Section III teams.
2) Make sure there were no repeat games within the match-ups.
3) Try and make the least amount of changes from the original schedule.
4) Move the fewest teams to stay away from rematches.
5) Stay consistent with the teams original sites from original schedule (if they were home on the original schedule, keep them home.  If away, keep them away)
6) If both teams were scheduled home, then there was a coin toss to see who gets the home game. (Occured in week 3 and week 6)
7) Keep travel condsiderations at a premium.

The changes are as follows:

Week 1 (09/03-09/04)
Friday - New York Mills @ Port Byron - 7:00 PM
Saturday - Morrisville @ West Canada - 2:00 PM
