What to Watch: Week of 10/11 - 10/17

By: Michael Spellman
Updated: October 13, 2010

What to Watch:

Saturday 10/16:

3PM - WUTR - College Football, Texas Longhorns @ (5) Nebraska Cornhuskers.  Nebraska faces a Texas sized challenge as the 3-2 Longhorns come to visit the 5-0 Cornhuskers in a Big 12 south showdown.  Last week the Longhorns lost a close home game to the then 8th ranked Oklahoma Sooners.  Now they must travel to Nebraska and defeat the 5th ranked Cornhuskers if they wish to avoid a third straight loss.

7PM - WUTR - Nascar Sprint Cup Series at Charlotte.  The Sprint Cup Chase for the Cup is in full swing as the best drivers of the Sprint Cup series will try to knock Jimmie Johnson off the top of the leaderboard at the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte.

7:30 PM - WFXV - MLB Playoffs, NLCS Game 1, San Fransisco Giants @ Philadelphia Phillies.  The Giants probable game 1 starter Tim Lincecum dominated the Braves in his first post-season start, but then again, Phillies ace Roy Halladay threw a no-hitter against the Reds in his first post season game.  It will be a pitching match-up for the ages in this post-season battle.

Sunday 10/17:

1PM - WFXV - NFL Game 1, Detroit Lions @ New York Giants.  Both team are coming off of big victories last week.  The Giants improved their record to 3-2 with a victory over the Houston Texans while the Lions got their first win of the season against the Rams.  Both teams will look to continue the trend this week.

4PM - WFXV - NFL Game 2, Dallas Cowboys @ Minnesota Vikings.  Brett Farve helped lead Minnesota to a playoff victory over the Cowboys last season and you can bet Dallas will be looking for revenge.  Both teams are coming off a loss last week and could desperately use a win to improve their record.

8PM - WFXV - MLB Playoffs, NLCS Game 2.  San Fransisco Giants @ Philadelphia Phillies.  Matt Cain dazzled against the Braves in his last start only to see the bullpen blow the win for him.  Roy Oswalt meanwhile struggled with the longball in his post-season start against the Reds.  In a play-off series that promises good pitching matchup after good pitching matchup, this will be another one to savor.
