The Genesis Group Launches its College Welcome Initiative

By: Elsa Gillis
Updated: September 15, 2011

Local grassroots organization The Genesis Group is working to make area college students a part of the community.  The group has launched their newest version of the College Welcome Initiative, in its third year now. The initiative brings together 11 of the area's colleges and local businesses.  The goal of the initiative is to bring together the 25,000 students in the area with the surrounding community. Chair of the initiative and former Oneida County Executive Ralph Eannace says that the amount of college students we have here has a large impact on the region.  The program offers discounts for students and makes them aware of community events.  For more information, visit www.CollegeWelcome.org.
