Resolution for North-South Arterial Project not approved

The talk continues in regard to the North-South Arterial Project at Monday's night's common council meeting.
A resolution was presented but Stan Ossowski, the Parish Council president says the City Council was afraid of losing funding on the entire arterial project as a whole, so the resolution was not approved.
However, The Sunset Ave. crossing has been a big issue that has come up by many residents.
"It would be difficult to get there with the current plan. You would have to go all over Court St. and Noyes St., and those streets would be increasingly congested over time. All we're asking is to keep Sunset Avenue open, and to perhaps put another exit on Warren St. which would allow access to the Munson Museum," said Ossowski.
"We're asking the council and D.O.T. to at least consider that change in their plans for Phase 1, and that is a big concern so we're looking at possibly reviewing and changing that," said Councilman, Jim Zecca.
Stan Ossowski says there are thousands of people visiting Trinity Church, and he would like to keep open access to it.
He also says another recommendation would be to consider a turning lane on the northbound side of the arterial.
Mr. Ossowski says with the right plan for development of the North-South Arterial Project, there could be more opportunities for Utica.
