A $6 million grant is helping some unemployed New Yorkers get back to work. The state received a federal grant to help those that have been unemployed for 20 or more weeks get back to work. Through the grant employers can get up to 90% of the wages paid while a new hire is training. To date the grant has helped 81 unemployed in six area counties get back to work.

Executive Director of Workforce Investment Boards Alice Savino says, "This gives the employer an opportunity and an incentive to take a chance on someone who has been out of work for four or five months."

There is about 4 million dollars left for the state to award and they're giving that money to qualifying businesses that apply.
