As with many other businesses, there's been tough times for some woodworking companies the last several years.

But, instead of closing, Delta Hardwood Flooring Incorporated in Lee Center is expanding it's business and adding jobs.

Over the last few years it's been a packed house at the company.

"Our equipment takes up every bit of square space that we have," said President, Randy Bowers.

With some products being made in Berkshire, and others being subcontracted in Quebec, Bowers says it was time to end the outsourcing.

"We wanted to bring our pre-finishing in house, bring our rough mill in house and really be a total manufacturer under one roof," said Bowers.

Bowers says he plans on expanding and moving everything to the old Ethan Allen plant in Boonville.

"Being able to go to a building that's quite a bit larger than we have now is really going to make it a lot easier," said employee, Keith Ouderkirk.

And with all the new space, Bowers says he's going to need some more help than just his current 20 employees.

"We'll probably hit 35 to 40 employees in Boonville and you know beyond that, if the markets treat us anything fair, I could see 50 to 60 employees at Boonville," he said.

Located right in the heart of Boonville, Bowers says not only is it good news for job hunters, but also for the village.

"If we have 40 employees, that's potentially 40 people filling a gas tank each week, it's 40 dinners at a local restaurant, it's all those little impacts that add up to beginning a building process in an area," said Bowers.

Bowers says the whole moving process will be done in phases.

He says he is shooting for June 1st to have everything completed.
