Army Sergeant Jennifer Fitzgerald is originally from the Albany area, but now calls Central New York - home. She is the daughter of Tina (keen) Kehn and John Fitzgerald. She is also the sister of "Heather." Jennifer is engaged to U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Dane Halligan.

Just 10 days after graduating high school, she was shipped to basic training in the 403rd Civil Affairs Battalion out of Syracuse. She was deployed to Iraq in 2006. During her overseas service, Jennifer says one of her best memories is building schools for girls and women who were once banned from learning.

She continues her learning at Utica College where she's pursuing a degree in psychology- child life. After graduation, Jennifer is interested in working as a therapist for people suffering with traumatic injuries and post traumatic stress disorder. Currently, she also works at Sitrin Health Care as a military consultant.

Eyewitness news salutes you, Sergeant Jennifer Fitzgerald! We're proud to have you as our Hometown Hero.
