Love is in the air!

Flower shops across Central New York were busier than usual this Valentine's Day.

Village Florals in New Hartford say they ordered over 5,000 roses for the holiday.

Florists say sales have been non-stop today. And with Valentine's Day being one of best days for business, Village Florals say it takes quite a bit of planning.

"We start a week ahead. We have a lot of extra help. We do a lot of arrangements, a lot of gift baskets and gourmet baskets. We have dozen roses and deliver. This is a really big holiday for us," said florist Cyndi Lacelle.

Studies say a person will spend an average of $130 this holiday.

And men are the bigger spenders, shelling out twice the amount women will spend on their significant other.
