Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute Holds "Art Alive" For Children

It's winter break for many, but some area students are still learning about art and culture in Utica. The Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute held "Art Alive" this afternoon. Children and families took part in arts and crafts, listened to live Irish music, and even see new museum exhibits. Some of the children say it's a fun way to try something new.

"It's interesting. There's all the art, there's culture, there's history," says Joe Schmidt, Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute spokesman.

"It's showing you ideas that I've never even known about. I mean like the lanterns, that's probably one of my favorite activities we've done, and it's giving kids an opportunity to try something new with art," says Katie Bennett, 10-year-old Utica resident.

All activities were free and open to the public.
