Ok, so your eyes were bigger than your stomach and you have leftovers. Now that you've packed away thousands of calories how can you use this food to create a healthy meal?

Health and Wellness Consultant at Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield Pat Salzer says, "Turkey is a wonderful leftover especially when it's that white meat and it's so versatile. So, you can make a turkey soup and add some vegetables and that being a broth based soup will help fill you up and help you eat less for the rest of the meal."

Anyone over eat today, ok I'm guilty too. But experts say its ok if you did overindulge just make sure tomorrow you get back on track.

Salzer added, "This is a great time of the year to get some extra physical activity in. So if you have the long holiday weekend to schedule some of that time to be a time that you're burning off some of those excess calories that you had consumed. It all comes down to balance."

Many studies have shown that on thanksgiving we consume 4,500 calories in one sitting. That means for the average male to burn those calories it would take over 9 and a half hours of continuous jogging to burn. And for women, nearly 13 hours. But pat says break it up and be creative with your exercising.

"It's so good when you can incorporate your social part of your life with physical fitness, so if you're getting together with friends instead of going out for coffee and desert maybe go for that walk" says Salzer
