While Monday was the official start of snowmobiling season, people up on McCauley Mountain in Old Forge are prepping for the upcoming ski season.

The ski area is scheduled to open December 15th.

The general manager says at the end of the summer and fall scenic chair rides, they start putting the ski area back together.

He also says they get to work on making man-made snow with snow guns to get the ski area nice and white.

"We wish we didn't have to because it's expensive, but man-made snow will guarantee our conditions and that's key. Even though you may see green grass down in the valley or the cities, don't think that we are not hard at work working providing great snow conditions," said Steve Uzdavinis.

Uzdavinis says they are hoping for some heavy snow fall for the slopes, but says they're prepared if it's another mild winter.
