During this time of year, some physical therapists say they see in an increase in back injuries due to shoveling.

One chiropractor says there are some things to keep in mind when you're removing the snow.

He says the most common mistake is that people bend forward and twist their bodies when shoveling,  which can result in hurting your lower back.

Instead, he says to push the snow forward in small amounts and take it slow.

"Something as simple as making sure you have the right type of shovel... The ergonomic shovels if people have seen them those are the shovels that have the bent handles. They are bent so you can shovel while standing up right you don't have to bend over as far again placing excess stress on your lumbar spine," said David Kingwater.

The chiropractor also says to make sure you are warmed up before you shovel.

And he says the moment you have pain, stop and take a break.
