Since taking over the Child Advocacy Center or the CAC back in August, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office says it needs more staff to keep up with the increase in child sex abuse cases.

The Sheriff's Office is looking to hire two more investigators for the center. But Oneida County Ways and Means Committee must pass the proposal before it goes to the full Board of Legislators for a vote.

"We're talking an upwards of 120 to 150 open cases right now today. Just to give you an example, four more cases came in yesterday alone. And the longer we put this off the more cases will remain open for longer periods of time," said Sheriff Robert Maciol of the Oneida Co. Sheriff's Office.

In 2009 The CAC handled over 400 child sex abuse cases. Sheriff Maciol says they will end 2012 with more than 500 cases.
