Although trout season doesn't begin for another couple months, fishing enthusiasts may soon be paying less for licenses.

The Governor wants to simplify and streamline hunting and fishing licenses. The proposal would reduce fees for hunters, anglers and trappers.

One fisherman and business owner of JP Ross Fly Rods says this is a positive step for tourism in our area.

"We're really not marketing New York as a place for people to come, especially in CNY. The West Canada Creek is draining the Adirondack Park. We have 10 to 20 miles here a number of fisheries people would want to experience," said Jordan Ross.

The Governor's proposal is a part of the thirty-day amendments to his executive budget.
