It's a typical day in Ms. Brinck's third grade classroom.

Part of the lesson plan for her students includes searching for a fact about an animal.

"I wanted to know if there was more than one Bald Eagle," said third grader, Joel Torres.

But instead of looking up that information in an Encyclopedia, Joel can get it all from a touch and a swipe.

The third grade at Poland Elementary School was given 20 iPads to use as a new tool in the classroom.

"They're more excited, they realize how big the world is, but they also realize they can find out anything with this piece of technology," said teacher, Barbara Brinck.

Brinck says along with exploring, students also can take quizzes on the iPad with results automatically sent to her.

"We can take a look and see how well each student did," she said.

And while it's a new fun way of learning, student Brady Wright is already thinking of the benefits of using an iPad down the road.

"Someday you might need to use one of these so it's important to know what to do and how to use it," he said.
