Keeping Healthy: MASH Camp II

They may be teenagers but that doesn't mean they're not driven.  While many search their whole lives to find that perfect career, he campers at MASH Camp at Little Falls Hospital are pretty certain on what they want out of life, and MASH camp administrators have taken notice.

"The MASH camps have evolved, but so has the interest level and the sophistication of the students that are interested," says Mike Ogden, President and CEO of Little Falls Hospital.

"I think all these groups that attend MASH camp are really an exceptional group; they already know at this age what they want to do," says Brianna Yetsko, MASH Camp Administrator.

Some of the campers  Eyewitness News spoke with say they decided to try the camp because they have family that work in the medical field, and wanted to give it a try - some are exploring the hospital for the first time.  And explore they did. 

Campers say the staff they train with at Little Falls Hospital make sure they know that this is no t-v drama - and becoming a health care professional is a big investment.

"The people here really tell you straight out how it is, what they do, if they like it or not, and it really helps you to know what's actually going on in the hospital," says camper Rachel Parisi

And all agree on one aspect that drew them to the field - people.

"My grandma used to work here at little falls hospital and she told me one time that she had a patient that she worked with very well and she ended up passing, and the connection you make here with people is wonderful," says camper Hannah Rasch.
