Some folks got a head start on burning off the calories. The Utica
Roadrunners held their 28th Annual Thanksgiving Day Run & Walk To
End Hunger. Coordinators say more than 700 people came out to the event.
All the runners donated money and nonperishable foods. Some families
say doing this run has become a tradition.
"On Thanksgiving, we eat a lot so its nice to get some exercise this morning. And not everyone has a nice, hot Thanksgiving meal so its nice to give back to people who don't," says Stephen Leo, participant and father who runs with his children.
"I do this every Thanksgiving, you give money to charity, to people who need it," says Brendan Leo, participant and son who runs with his family.
The event featured a Kids Run, 5K run, and 2 mile walk. And all proceeds go to area food pantries.
