With recent cuts to the Utica Police Department, Chief Mark Williams has been looking at the best ways to work with what his department has.

The Chief requested a deeper look at the operations and efficiency of the UPD.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has agreed to such a study.

Williams says this is a comprehensive look at different issues within the department.

"I feel like I have a good hand with what's going on in my department. However, there may be new ideas out there that we're not aware of," said Chief Williams.

Ultimately, the Chief says he's looking at ways to make the community and his officers safer.
