The fourth highest concentration of refugees in the U.S. is right here in Central New York - and today has been a day of cultural celebration.

June 20th is World Refugee Day, a day to recognize and celebrate refugees throughout the world.

The Mohawk Valley Resource Center for Refugees held a culture fair for both refugees and the community. And refugees say it's a great way to bring people together.

"Utica is a very welcoming community but people are busy sometimes. This is a day that people can share their information, with community, refugees, and agencies that are helping refugees. It's always good understanding and learning from each other," says refugee Abdelshakour Khamis.

The Refugee Center held events all day long including cultural dances, sing-a-longs, a fashion show, and the chance to learn traditional weaving.
