"WiFi has presented a whole new series of challenges"   Over 90% of internet crime across the globe happens right here in the United States. That according to the Internet Crime Complaint Center. But thanks to Assured Information Services, of Rome, police agencies now have a tool to help fight internet crime. The Wi-Fi Investigator is a one of kind tool to aid law enforcement in this growing problem.

Brand Manager Dan Kalil says, "It's a common mechanism used for identity theft, child exploitation, child pornography, where their able to actually conduct their illegal activities and hide and go undiscovered and often times the unsuspecting owner of the Wi-Fi access point is left to proclaim their innocents and even defend themselves. So not only can it help exonerate the innocent but catch the real criminals that are out there conducting these activities."

The Wi-Fi Investigator took six years to create and it's intended to hunt down internet criminals but it also offers a unique service to hospitals and banks as well.

Kalil says, "Recently we've had IT security professionals contact us, its an unintended consequence in a good way where we've actually been able to help them secure their networks or maintain policy compliance. We've had numerous healthcare organizations that have asked us if our product is able to help them insure the privacy and security of not only their networks but their sensitive patient data."

AIS says the product has drawn the attention of agencies nationwide and locally but as proud as the company is of the Wi-Fi Investigator, the company says the best protection is to always secure your wireless network.

"Wi-Fi networks can always be broken as with any network but certainly securing your router that you have at your house is very common. It would certainly reduce the risk or chance of somebody being able to access the internet" Kalil added.
