The city of Rome unveiled a proposal of their 2013 budget this afternoon. Mayor Joe Fusco made revisions to the legislation he initially proposed, to keep the city within the 2 percent tax cap.

Rome's new spending plan is now $40.5 million dollars, which is about $700,000 dollars less than its 2012 budget.

"It's good for the taxpayers because the increase in taxes isn't gonna be what it was originally proposed. But it makes the city be more conservative and a little bit tense because any emergencies that come about through the course of the year can cause a problem with the budget," says John Mazzaferro, Rome Council President.

The final budget must be passed by December 31st.
