The New Year also means new management in the Mohawk Fire Department. After serving for 20 years, Dan Mabbett has been elected as Mohawk's new fire chief. Mabbett says it's always been his dream to serve as chief and he has several goals for 2013.

"I want to try to get the community involved. I'm going out to a lot of businesses, letting them know who I am. I'm having office hours one day a month, try to get more people involved. The younger people, I want to try to get the younger kids in the school system, letting the people know I'm there for them," says Chief Mabbett.

Chief Mabbett says his first community office hours will kick off in February. And he says if you're interested in volunteering with the fire department, you can contact your area fire-house for more information.
