Joe Parker
After years of reporting and anchoring, Joe headed West! He was the founding news director and evening news anchor of the new NBC for Wyoming (KCWY-TV). Joe says, "Being a part of a team that turned a field of rabbits into the top-rated and well respected statewide news organization is one of my proudest accomplishments. Being accepted by the Cowboy State and awarded by the Associated Press and Wyoming Association of Broadcasters for our work was, pardon the old saying, icing on the already wonderful cake. " By the way, Joe says the rabbits still hang out around the station.
Joe says he feels truly blessed to have been given the astonishing reporting and storytelling opportunities he's had over the years. "Whether it's an exclusive interview with Vice President Dick Cheney and his wife, Lynne, spending the day interviewing and befriending the legendary Luciano Pavarotti or heading out to the country to do a story on an 80-year-old lady who has won hundreds of ribbons at the county fair, I always feel welcome and at home."
Joey now calls Utica, and Central New York home. He says he's thrilled to be a part of the WUTR Eyewitness News family. Aside from his anchoring and reporting duties, Joe is also the news director.
In his little spare time, Joe enjoys traveling, watching movies and learning more about the history and current events of our world. Joe has also created and written a series of children's books with the goal of promoting literacy in a "fun way" among the little ones.
