Former Remington Arms employee concerned with new gun control law

As a veteran and former Remington Arms employee, Lawrence Spencer knows a thing or two about guns.

"I've done a lot of hunting through the years," he said.

But with new gun control laws signed into law Tuesday afternoon, he's afraid his hunting experiences won't be the same.

"We all hunt every year, and I'd just hate to see anything happen to us to bare fire arms," said Spencer.

And it's not just the right to bare arms that has him concerned.

Living across the street from Remington Arms in Ilion, Lawrence worries about the future of the gun manufacturer and his village.

A law he says that could be bad news for Remington and the community.

"There's going to probably be several people losing their jobs because that's one of their biggest lines is the assault weapons," he said. "That's why we hate to see this, the whole valley."

And while Lawrence fears the worst for his village, he says there are parts of the detailed law he's all for.

"I agree on the background check, the mentality, if they've had any mental issues or any history in their life

But he says the new laws will continue to leave uncertainty  .

"It's really hard to determine how they're going to regulate this, I don't know," he said.
