The Oneida County Lead Poisoning Prevention team is turning to new technology to lower costs.

Starting this week the prevention team will be using a total of eight iPads.

The gadgets were purchased through a grant offered by the state department of health.

Officials say this technology will reduce the time spent on each home inspection allowing for lead inspectors to go through even more homes.

"To do the entire inspection in the home, to complete the report while he's in the field, take his digital photographs, upload them, review the report and then upload it to the cloud.  We can before he gets back to the office actually look at that inspection report if we need to make any adjustments, finalize it, and actually have it printed out," said Cathe Bullwinkle.

She also recommends all children to be tested for lead poisoning at one or two years old.
