With temperatures in the teens, experts want to remind people to keep their pets safe in the cold weather.

Jerry Kraus at the Stevens-Swan Humane Society says he's received several phone calls about dogs being left outside.

Kraus says if you do take your do outside, make sure to clean their paws off from any road salt, as it could irritate them.

"Some breeds like huskies, they can take some of the cold weather, but when it's freezing cold and you have wind chill bringing the temperatures down, it's deadly dangerous for animals to be outside," said Kraus.

He also says to be extra cautious with puppies, as they are more prone to frost bite.
