There is no word yet on what caused a fire to rip through a storage building in the Village of Boonville.

Fire crews responded to the building last night located behind the Nice 'N Easy on Main Street.

There are no reported injuries, but officials say they lost many donated items, including brand new canoes, ice skates and artifacts from the black river canal museum.

The mayor says it's a difficult loss for the community.

"The community has embraced that area as far as development. We have the museum and walkways. So, I would not be surprised if we looked to put some type of structure down there because that is an area we would like to continue to develop," said Mayor Michael Kramer.

A portion of the building was also a warming hut for ice skaters. The mayor says luckily no ice skaters were around due to the warmer temperatures and no ice.
