The City of Utica is 48 hours away from voting on a
2013-2014budget. Tonight the common council met to review the current proposal.
A dozen amendments were proposed tonight to help cut costs. One included
cutting funds for new police vehicles that could save tax payers $140,000. The council also entertained
the idea of raising the price of garbage bags to raise nearly $100,000. They also proposed cutting
overtime city wide which could also save roughly 100-thousand dollars. The
council will be meeting tomorrow before they must vote this Wednesday on a
final budget.
