With the Thanksgiving holiday quickly approaching, it means more people out on the road and up in the air.

AAA released their holiday travel forecast today and although travel is slightly up this year- people are staying closer to home.

Also, with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, AAA says it's unclear how it will affect some travelers.

"I recommend people plan ahead and look at the conditions if they are going into the city area. Chances are if their families haven't been unaffected they will be able to get in and out pretty well. But play it safe and check first. Again check the weather. It's the time of year where we can get ice and snow. I'm sure people don't want to be reminded of that," said Ed Welsh of AAA.

AAA also says although people are paying less at the pump, gas prices are still at a record high for the holiday.
