As some are prepping for thanksgiving, other organizations are seeking the public's help.

The Community Food Bank of Utica says they always welcome donations. Recently, area schools and businesses have given the organization non-perishable items as well as fresh produce.

During the holiday season, the food bank says there's a greater need in the community.

"Children who would otherwise have their breakfast and lunch in school are not in school so they have to get all their meals at home. So, there is a greater need for families to provide more food because the children will be home. Also, during the holidays people like to do a little bit more with their meals," said President, Mark Wolber.

The food bank says any family is welcome. And Wolber says there's always a need year round, not just during the holidays.
