Some community members lit candles tonight to remember and honor their loved ones. The St. Elizabeth Medical Center Foundation held its 12th Annual Lights of Love Candle Lighting and Remembrance Service. Foundation members say the event is a way for community members to thank someone who has brightened their lives, even if that person is not here anymore.
"It's so nice to be able to offer the community a place to go and really honor those people who are and have been special in their lives. And then when the folks come out of tonight's service, the medical center will be lit up, lined up in holiday lights and each light signifies someone that a donation has been made either in memory or in honor of," says Andrea LaGatta, foundation member.
Nearly 200 community members came out to the service. And all proceeds will go toward purchasing equipment and funding programs at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
